JOE	So what now? Mr. Public Defender? The judge has completely flipped out!
PUBLIC DEFENDER	Don't worry about it. We'll ask for a jury trial... the judge will barely even matter.
PUBLIC DEFENDER	It's probably for the best anyway. This is Texas. The less interested the judge is in your trial, the less chance you have of getting the death penalty!
JOE	DEATH PENALTY?? But... a smoking violation isn't a capital crime??
PUBLIC DEFENDER	It isn't? Wow. Sometimes I really wish they'd let us P.D's go to law school...
