Birth of the Blog
December 9th, 2005OK, here it is… the first post of the brand-new Monkey Law Blog!
Why do I need a blog, you might ask? The short answer is “I don’t.” The long answer is “I don’t, asshole.” The reason I’m starting a blog is not to bore everyone with the minutiae of my daily life (hell, even I can barely stay awake through it), but instead to supplement Monkey Law with possibly-related or at the very least amusing material that doesn’t happen to be in comic strip form. I plan to include political rants, links to other political sites and other webcomics, you know, the usual. The traditional “News” blog that appears on the front page will be rolled into this blog as well, and I will find a way to get it on the main page too.
One reason for starting a blog is that blogs give one new options for generating publicity. Part of the magic of the “blogosphere” is how promiscuously bloggers link to one another. I swear, they’re like bunny rabbits. And I need more action. Each new Monkey Law strip will get its own blog entry, too… which enables it to be syndicated through RSS and other magical technologies. This version of the strip will be a smaller size, to fit more easily into the usual “blog” format, but each strip will be clickable to get you to the main page and the full-size version.
Oh yeah, you’ve probably noticed that this page is generic-looking and doesn’t have the uniform Monkey Law look to it. I’m working on that. In the meantime, though, it’s fully functional.
On the side of the page you’ll see a section called “Blogroll” — traditionally that’s where permanent links to other bloggers go. Right now I’ve linked to DJ Coffman’s blog/strip Yirmumah — I need more ideas for links. Let me know. Oh, and of course you can comment on blog entries. I mean, duh, this isn’t the dark ages.
So, anyway. Enjoy the blog.

I plan to read through your archives when I get a chance. 200+ isn’t something to scoff at.
