Switching to WordPress

March 13th, 2007

Right now, I’m engaged in a project that I started and gave up on over a year ago — changing Monkey Law over from my own proprietary software to the WordPress blogging software.

My reasons for this are varied. First, there’s the sheer challenge of it. Second, the idea that other people out there in the internet can search for what I’ve written about my strips (using tools like Technorati appeals to me.

I’m coming down the home stretch, and will be working pretty much non-stop on this until I get it done. If you click “Block” in the menu bar right now, you’ll see some seriously ugly shit, so I recommend against it.

So the way it works is going to be this: Every comic will have a blog post associated with it, in which I’ll be commenting on the strip or something. Anyone will be able to post comments, whether they’re “logged in” to the blog or not. Haven’t decided what yet. Most strips posted before today will have just placeholder text. But you can still leave comments.

Prior to this, I had a link to making comments in the forum, but that’s all self-contained and its content isn’t available to search services like Wordpress is.

So pardon the dust (also, there won’t be a comic for Wednesday any more than there was for Monday) and I hope you like the changes!
