Thus begins a bit of a digression from Steven and Julian’s attempts to procure a child. I hope you’ll bear with me as I experiment and flex my creative muscles a bit… I’ve come to feel that the strip as I’ve been writing and drawing it has become a little stale, and there are some things I want to explore that don’t really fit in the Monkey Law box.
Our mustachioed and bebaseballcapped heroes will see a resolution to their child quest sometime very soon, rest assured. In the meantime, enjoy the intermission.
Oh, and yeah. I did shave my beard tonight. It’s the middle of summer, and my face feels cold.
Transcript| Brad: | I've worn a beard since I was 18 years old. |
| Brad: | I shave it off once every couple of years or so. |
| Brad: | When I do, it's like a stranger's face staring back at me in the mirror... |
| Brad: | It's a particularly ugly stranger. |
| Brad: | His skin, untouched by the sun, is sallow and rubbery, like the skin on your ass. |
| Brad: | His sideburns are, naturally, uneven. |
| Brad: | I can't really get a read on what sort of man he is, but I suspect his tiny, effete mouth tells the whole story. |
| Brad: | Don't worry, though. |
| Brad: | In a few days, I'll grow accustomed to the look and will be able to recognize that face, at a glance, as my own. |
| Brad: | Oh, god. |

I didn’t even know there was going to be a sixth panel until I scrolled down. I really like how it’s offset from the others (although, it might be interesting to see how the strip would look with the empty space filled with three more panels of that same shot without text & then the final “oh, god”).
